Aru heard the children screaming about fire and came racing back from her hunt at full speed, a dead wild boar still slung over her shoulder. When she saw the orange glow emanating from inside the cave, her face went pale. She dropped the boar, shouting that she was coming to save me, and charged inside. Before I could even raise a hand, she grabbed me and pressed my face against her chest. My nose and mouth were buried in her soft, warm skin and animal hides; I couldn't breathe. She was trying to save me from the fire, but she was about to kill me with her kindness.
